Beyond Napa Valley’s Philosophy

Our view on wine tasting

Have you ever wanted to go wine tasting but didn’t know where to start looking? Perhaps you were planning a trip out to California but didn’t know where to start except for predictable Napa. Even though founder Haydn Adams lives in California, he was stuck with the same dilemma. While maps and other reference materials were helpful, he found it it difficult to easily figure out just where to go. And voila: Beyond Napa Valley was born.

Beyond Napa Valley is the easiest, most accurate way to find a winery. We here at Beyond Napa Valley (sitting at our virtual office desks), want to use this site ourselves. We love wine tasting, love discovering the hidden gems of the wine world, and know you will too.

“Wine is a journey, not a destination, which means that all of us, not matter how much we know, are on the same road, just at different mile markers. If we ever felt we knew everything about wine, we’d move on to stamp collecting—OK, not stamp collecting, but some other hobby. To us, one of the most thrilling aspects of wine is discovering something new to our experience…

…don’t make wine into an intellectual exercise. Just enjoy it. Taste, taste, taste. The only way to really know anything about wine is to drink it.”
– Dorothy J. Gaiter & John Brecher, Wall Street Journal

We truly do hope that you find and discover a wine and/or winery that you’ve never experienced before.

Thank you,
Haydn S. Adams
